Recent studies in climate change show scientific proof that our planet is getting warmer. More notably in the summer months, Canada has experienced hotter summer conditions in a gradual manner over the last decade. What Canadians thought was an unexpectedly hot summer is becoming the norm and Canadian's are now realizing they have to adapt.
But how does climate change affect our winter conditions? Quite simply, the winters are getting warmer and have shown less snow height overall, but the noticeable difference is coming from the winter storms that seem to have 2 days worth of snowfall within only a few hours. Studies have shown because the earth is getting warmer there is more moisture being lost into the air. What would have been normal snowfall say 20-30 years ago has multiplied the amount of snow that actually falls down to the ground. The only difference is there is a shorter snow season of which shows the overall year tally of snow hitting the ground is less than what was at one time considered normal.
Now more than ever with the heavy dumps of snow are Snow Angels needed. Look for your local community and civic programs to become an Angel. You are needed now more than ever.
